IRI Expert Steve Nix Analyzes the Latest on Belarus and Lithuania for Al Jazeera
On August 18, IRI Regional Director for Eurasia Steve Nix joined Al Jazeera to discuss the current dispute between Belarus and Lithuania over the ongoing border crisis. Lithuania has previously led the fight against the Lukashenko regime, according to Nix, and is now the temporary home of opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. Nix states that Lukashenko’s “drastic actions” regarding migrants at the border demonstrate that the EU’s sanctions are working and should be strengthened.
