Final Thoughts on Africa Day 2016

  • Elizabeth Lewis

As the sun gets ready to go down in Washington, D.C., I’m reflecting on our celebration of Africa Day today.

What started as a small idea to get the IRI-Africa team to commemorate the day with “our vision for democracy in Africa” turned into an overwhelming show of excitement, optimism, dedication and pride by IRI staff in our field offices across the continent and the wonderful partners we work with every day. To catch up, visit us @iriglobal on Twitter and on Facebook. For those of us who live and work in Africa, we know that it’s an amazing and diverse continent that deserves to be celebrated every day. On behalf of all of us at IRI-Africa, from Dar es Salaam to Nairobi to Kampala to Johannesburg to Bangui to Kinshasa to Abuja to Niamey to Bamako and Washington, D.C., Happy Africa Day.  We’re already looking forward to 2017!
